As traceability division director at NGO FishWise, Boyle works to create tools that help FishWise partners, and the larger seafood industry, reduce and ultimately eliminate illegal seafood products from supply chains.
Her background in science, business engagement, and supply chain logistics allows her to add a unique perspective to these conversations and her very practical and realistic approach to fixing some of the industry's biggest problems, has revealed her as a leader in the field.
IntraFish Media: How did you enter the seafood industry and why? What drew you to it as a career?
Mariah Boyle: My background is in fisheries science but after years in that line of work I realized that science moves slowly and is not always implemented swiftly to improve ocean health.
