Water "the next climate change"
Water stress is a fast-developing and too often overlooked key development, Karl Rose, former chief strategist at Shell, said.
"Water will be the next climate change.... It will hit us much faster than CO2 [carbon dioxyde]," Rose, who carried out a study on water stress whilst at Shell, told the conference.
It is something that "will actually increase and hit you [and aquaculture.] It's definitely going to impact most of you here in the room," Rose said.
This water stress will not be led by climate change, but instead by population growth and urbanization, he said.
