Better days for Burmese migrant workers?

The situation for Burmese migrant workers in seafood processing factories is getting better, but challenges still remain, said May Myat Noe Lwin, Burmese owner of CNN Aquaculture in Thailand.

One challenge for these workers is that if they want to change their job, they must get the permission of their employers, she said. And this makes it difficult for illiterate or uneducated Burmese because they don’t speak the Thai language, they don’t dare to explain or fight for their rights, she said.
